SOCIETY FOR ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT

Biblical Basis:
Ecc 7:12  For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.

Isa 55:1  Lo, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat. Yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

1Pe 5:10  But the God of all grace, He calling us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, He will perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

HISTORY

The S.E.A. is a program founded by the Rev. Gilberto Rosado for 2003.  It developed from Rev. Rosado’s work in the community where while writing grant proposals for a Jersey City, NJ Minister and well known community leader Rev. Jose C. Lopez, and analyzing the needs of TANF populations, the Rev. Gilberto Rosado designed the initial core model of what would become the S.E.A.  The program was shaped largely by the real world experience and business / industrial acumen that Rev. Rosado has in his background.  The S.E.A. is in essence the same as the USAEEDI (another program run by our organization).  The main difference is that S.E.A. is targeted toward the immigrant population and is meant to help establish them economically to be contributors to society.  In addition, S.E.A. has expansive outreaches toward international populations.  We have since 2004 introduced our program to Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and have made contacts in Costa Rica, & Ecuador.

The Rev. Rosado had long since he opened his printing services firm always trained young people in the printing and graphic arts industry.  Since the age of 15, the Rev. Rosado has always been involved in commerce as an entrepreneur.  His administrative expertise served him well when he embarked on his vocation as a pastor and this experience is what is sustaining the great vision of the S.E.A. and the other programs that Rev. Gilberto Rosado has created and implemented in his church.

In addressing the TANF population, Rev. Rosado observed that the problem is the lack of education and real quality mentoring in the home needed by these populations in order to compete economically in society.  There are many resources available all around us, but in truth, progress is a state of mind and most people do not have the necessary mentoring to achieve the right state of mind toward independence and self-sustenance.  The S.E.A. is an economic mentoring program centered on the two expressions of economic stability: employment and business.  In addition, the S.E.A. acts as a network providing our clients with business incubation, product and service distribution.  In essence the S.E.A. becomes a big brother to the small enterprises and together we form an economic cooperative.

All our lives are tied to the need to learn.  It is not that we win or lose but rather if we learn.  Learning is winning – always!.  We teach the client the necessary attitude and knowledge to equip them to handle the turn down swings and negative experiences as well as to learn from all situations and challenges.  Most of all, we help each client to find their own worth (value) and to be well established upon that essential quality from which we can progress.

The Rev. Rosado envisioned a club for people to come to every week where they would find resources, conversation and social engagement within a structure of education within which they could glean some new instruction that could better equip them for future challenges or help them through their present economic situation.  We stimulate and foster the participation of major stakeholders in the community, businesses and academics alike in order to address the different needs of the clients and to make the S.E.A. more effective as purveyor of expertise and as a way to increase our market and distribution venues on behalf of those we are servicing.

Through various community conferences held these past few years and now in 2007 every trimester starting in June 30th, 2007, Rev. Rosado is presenting his vision for S.E.A. as the place where economic progress, maintenance and independence is taught, mentored and perfected.  We see already how our method has helped those in serious situations heading towards economic disaster.

In 2005-2006, the Rev. Rosado started work on his books that incorporate the methodology and serve as the backbone to extending his services and ministry to the masses via S.E.A. sponsored seminars, courses, club gatherings, individual sessions, and community based outreaches and interventions by trained and certified S.E.A. mentors.  And this year we are training our first children’s economic mentor in Harlem, NY.  She will be helping young people to think business and guide them through small business activities while teaching other wholesome concepts and mores of society.  This is our first pilot program geared towards children under our model.  In addition, we are at present preparing an online business model that children will be introduced to with which they will earn scholarship funds for college.  We are very excited about these new programs.

We can do much more and for many more if we had the program funds.

Our Future:

With the help of donors, grants and other support, we would like to establish at minimum an education center in every major city and region, certify local economic mentors and educators, and provide periodic conferences in mass in which Rev. Rosado will lead and instill his methodology to all program participants in each area.  The process of preparing economic and cognitive mentors is ongoing and remains the basic focus of all our endeavors.
