Biblical Basis:
The Rosado Marriage Maintenance Institute is a program founded by the Rev. Gilberto Rosado for 2007. It was an evolutionary outgrowth to address the needs that he saw consistently within the married population being serviced through his private psychotherapy clinic. In the process he realized that most marriages should be founded and maintained within a learning contract. Marriage, he realized, was a learning engagement as love is in its finality. If the couple is unwilling to learn through marriage, the marriage will be to rigid and break. It is through learning that we are enabled to bear the weaknesses and shortcomings manifest through the trials and challenges of life of our significant other. The Rev. Rosado envisioned a club for married couples to come to every week where they would find resources, conversation and social engagement within a structure of education within which they could glean some new instruction that could better equip the married couple for future challenges or help them through a present situation. Through various Love Conferences held previously on a yearly basis around February 14 (Valentine’s Day) and now in 2007 every trimester starting in June 30th, 2007, Rev. Rosado is presenting his vision for a marriage club and incorporating such within the mission of the Rosado Marriage Maintenance Institute – a place where marriage is taught, mentored and perfected. We see already how our method has helped those in serious situations heading towards separation. To date, the Rev. Rosado Marriage Maintenance Institute and, previously, Rev. Rosado’s counseling practice have never loss a client to divorce. All of our clients are still married and happily so. In 2005-2006, the Rev. Rosado started work on his books that incorporate the methodology and serve as the backbone to extending his services and ministry to the masses via the RMMI courses, club gatherings, individual sessions, and community based outreaches and interventions by trained and certified cognitive mentors. In 2005, the Rev. Rosado held three Marriage Banquets / Conferences in which he presented his vision and taught on the basis of love and marriage. The attendees have become faithful fans of the conferences and are constantly waiting for the next installment to be presented. This year it will begin in June – admittedly late in the year, but necessary in order for our program to gear up for the next level of which this forum and presentation is a part. In addition it afforded us planning time to set up the new format and delivery schedule for our services. Regardless, we have still maintained our services to the community and have seen the same results consistently throughout. However, I should not give you the impression that all we do is keep people together. In fact, the indication that our teaching is working comes not only from the marriages we keep together, but also from the relationships (non-married) we see re-affirm their commitments or realize that they are not able to maintain through marriage. I am also moved by the maturity of certain couples that realize that they would not forge a survivable marriage. These outcomes are valid since they do not end in separation for they do not start to begin with. In addition, these pairs go on to other more suitable and mature relationships that do exhibit survivability traits. Our Future: With the help of donors, grants and other support, we would like to establish at minimum an education center in every major city and region, certify local center therapists and educators, and provide periodic conferences in mass in which Rev. Rosado will lead and instill his methodology to all program participants in each area. The process of preparing cognitive mentor therapists is ongoing and remains the basic focus of all our endeavors. |
