OUR KIDS, OUR COMMUNITY

Biblical Basis:
Mat 19:14  But Jesus said, Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of Heaven.

Eph 6:4  And fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

3Jn 1:4  I have no greater joy than these things, to hear that my children walk in the truth.

 HISTORY

The O.K.O.C. is a program founded by the Rev. Gilberto Rosado for 2006.  It developed from Rev. Rosado’s work in the community with children’s programs and other non-profits and seeing a general need for educational and economic support.  The Rev. Gilberto Rosado designed the initial core model of what would become the O.K.O.C.  The program was shaped largely by the real world experience and business / industrial acumen that Rev. Rosado has in his background.  The O.K.O.C. is in essence a network that provides logistical and financial support to programs of our own creation and those who join us as our clients and member organizations.  These organizations join as collaborators for the purposes of grant funding and other fundraising venues.  In addition, we pool our resources and talents together to provide all members clients with essential and beneficial expertise and mentoring towards betterment in service delivery and in funding retention.

The O.K.O.C. uses its strong and close ties with our other economic and educational programs such as; the S.E.A., and the U.S.A.E.E.D.I., to create a centralized resource for our client members.  Any help afforded our organization necessarily accrues to all our member organizations by way of workshops, education, on-site training and fundraising cooperatives which include the training of cooperative volunteers in networking and online fundraising practice.

But our main impetuses are the children’s programs we are developing: P2P Children’s Services – created in 2006 by Mrs. Jenny Rosado, the CBCDI (Children’s Behavioral & Cognitive Development Institute) together with a children’s module within O.K.O.C. itself that helps support children’s programs and rehabilitation centers for youth abroad.  This means that we not only take care of our own programs but help others in their endeavors as well.  We believe that one hand washing the other will help the whole.

The Rev. Rosado has a very long track record working with children since he was only a teenager.  At the age of 14, he helped establish a boy’s cadet camping program in his local church.  He became a leader of the 9-11 year olds long before he was qualified (by age) to be a boys leader.  He led the program after the adult leader moved to another town and kept the program functioning for varied age groups until another adult from the congregation saw his effort and felt that he could help the program.  Even at his early age of 15, the Rev. Gilberto Rosado displayed his unselfishness in that he offered his own position as Senior Commander to the new adult volunteer.  Rev. Rosado knew this new volunteer to be a key individual in the polity of the church and he recognized that this opportunity would help the kids and the program more than he could do due to his age.  So the offer was made and accepted by the adult volunteer and the rest is history!  That group of Royal Rangers touched many lives out of which today there count a few ministers from amongst the kids we taught and mentored.    There was a case of a problem child in the group.  He would disrupt the meetings with all sort of anti-social behavior.  The Rev. Rosado – then a fledgling counselor for the youth – sought Godly direction in what to do next.  The answer was to put the troublemaker in charge!  Astonished as he was of the idea, he went through with it and called the young man in question to seek his help in bringing order to the meetings.  And that too became history!  That young man who was a troubled child even got straightened up in school.  His teachers inquired of his parents about the Royal Ranger program because they saw an immediate change in his behavior and attitude and saw that this had to do with his constant referencing to the Royal Rangers and that he was now a leader.  These were the beginnings of Rev. Rosado’s empirical psychotherapeutic development and is truly a core element in the majority of the ills we are all working toward to mitigate if not eliminate all together.

In addition, since the age of 15, the Rev. Rosado has always been involved in fundraising and supporting programs like the Royal Rangers.  His administrative expertise served him well when he embarked on his vocation as a pastor and this experience is what is sustaining the great vision of the O.K.O.C. and the other programs that Rev. Gilberto Rosado has created and implemented in his church.

The need for a concerted effort in a holistic support of children’s programs is salient in our society.  We see spotty support and , in truth, every organization exists in self perpetuation and survival that mitigates its willingness to be a purveyor to others.  This is why Rev. Gilberto Rosado has started this program so that not only are the children’s needs addressed but the organizations that mediate their assistance can be supported as well.   Through education, training, communication and technology synchronization, the O.K.O.C. will achieve to be a central hub from which many organizations and children’s programs will radiate from spokes of all types of support and collaborative effort.  While grant making entities seek collaborations (organizations working in unison) in truth, this does not exist because the impetus of each organization is self-preservation.  The O.K.O.C. was formed as a collaboration facilitator – having the expertise to be the central hub and network facilitator for many organizations and programs.  We seek to fulfill our role not due to any need to take lead or be recognized as a lead organization.  Our philosophy is to be a bottom organization – support all the others with our strengths and by so doing we will be in all and through all.  We seek what grant makers desire that their money do – to help as many people effectively and efficiently as possible.  Grant makers do with money we will do with our expertise and resources.  We need funding in order to support that structure that provides information, technology and resources to all other organizations.  The O.K.O.C. is a trunk to a tree full of branches in charge of producing and caring for many fruit to maturity.

The O.K.O.C. conducts monthly membership meeting for the executive members and volunteers of every organization.  We provide expertise in many areas of concern to program directors such as real estate, grant writing, psychotherapy and mentoring topics, administrative issues, fundraising, internet and other technologies.  The Rev. Rosado envisioned a club for executives to come to every week where they would find resources, conversation and social engagement within a structure of education within which they could glean some new instruction that could better equip them for future challenges or help them through their present organizational situations.  We stimulate and foster the participation of major stakeholders in the community, businesses and academics alike in order to address the different needs of the clients and to make the O.K.O.C. more effective as purveyor of expertise and as a way to increase our fundraising venues on behalf of those we service.

Through various community conferences held these past few years and now in 2007 every trimester starting in June 30th, 2007, Rev. Rosado is presenting his vision for the O.K.O.C., as the key hub for economic progress and program maintenance.

In 2005-2006, the Rev. Rosado started work on his books that incorporate the methodology and serve as the backbone to extending his services and ministry to the masses via O.K.O.C., sponsored seminars, courses, executive gatherings, individual sessions, and community based outreaches and interventions by trained and certified O.K.O.C. mentors.

We can do much more and for many more if we had the program funds.

Our Future:

With the help of donors, grants and other support, we would like to establish at minimum an education center in every major city and region, certify local economic mentors and educators, and provide periodic conferences in mass in which Rev. Rosado will lead and instill his methodology to all program participants in each area.  The process of preparing economic and cognitive mentors is ongoing and remains the basic focus of all our endeavors.
