Cognitive Assistance Program

Biblical Basis:
Pro 1:4  to give sense to the simple, knowledge and judgment to the young man;

HISTORY

The Cognitive Assistance Program is a program founded by the Rev. Gilberto Rosado in 2004.  It was an evolutionary outgrowth of his particular teaching / ministry style which has been identified and classified as a distinct cognitive mentoring method from which he has developed the methodology at the core of our programs.

Additionally, as he ministered in Panama and conducted his own research on the psychosocial characteristics of the Panamanian people, Rev. Rosado was moved to develop a concrete and reproducible model to address the issues he saw evident within the culture.  During this time period and throughout the summer of 2004, this realization led to another: the method would be a model for application throughout the world.  He realized that the issues affecting the Panamanian people were the same ones faced by every nation and every culture.  He began to compare and analyze his findings and came to the realization that even domestically, in the U.S., the method would be an essential application that could address the majority of societal needs and issues.  In the process he realized that individuals should found themselves upon the premise that life – all of it – is a learning contract.  If an individual is unwilling to learn through life, that life will manifest intellectual rigidity and suffer from inability to problem-solve, thus, creating the problem behavior and societal shortcomings which is the bulk of non-military expenditure in the U.S. budget and, as viewed by the mass of working Americans, a drain on public resources.  It is through learning that we are enabled and empowered to eradicate the weaknesses and shortcomings manifest through the trials and challenges of life.

The Rev. Rosado envisioned a diverse multi-faceted social engagement that would encompass the greater percentage of target market share efficiently moving them to come and seek out resources, conversation, and dialogue within a structure of education in which they could glean some new instruction that could better equip the present community towards change - impacting the future generations and help them through their present situations.

Through various community workshops held monthly, the Rev. Rosado is only scraping the surface.  In 2004 through the present, we have only been able to conduct workshops based in the homes of our workers and other interested individuals.  Announcing and promoting these opportunities has been a challenge – particularly due to the burdens and restrictions inherent in a home-based outreach.  Nevertheless, we have continued a monthly workshop and have since January of 2007 started eight (8) home-based outposts in 8 different communities – including one in Newark, New Jersey.

Our Future:
With the help of donors, grants and other support, we would like to establish at minimum an education center in every major city and region, certify local center therapists and educators, and provide periodic conferences in mass in which Rev. Rosado will lead and instill his methodology to all program participants in each area.  The process of preparing cognitive mentor therapists is ongoing and remains the basic focus of all our endeavors.
